** The players were in full pads for the afternoon workout after just being in shoulder pads and shorts in the morning. The normal players were among the missing: Dez Bryant (ankle), Montrae Holland (hamstring), Patrick Watkins (knee), Akwasi Owusu-Ansah (shoulder/hamstring), Sean Lee (quadriceps), Stephen Hodge (knee), Sean Lissemore (groin). Brandon Williams sat out because he remains on a one a day schedule.

** The offense struggled with pressure in the afternoon workout. On the first play of team drills, Tony Romo would have been sacked by either Stephen Bowen , Curtis Johnson or likely Victor Butler. He had two "hot" throws because of a blitz to Jason Witten.

** During 9-on-9 drills, backup left tackle Alex Barron lacked power in handling Anthony Spencer on a toss play to the left. While he couldn't shake free, Marc Colombo executed the play perfectly earlier on a toss to the right on a Marion Barber run.

** Tashard Choice's vision puts him in good spots most of the time, but he was dancing too much on a run to the right. When it's a 3-yard run, get 3 yards. Don't turn it into a minus play.

** While the Cowboys don't tackle during training camp, they do work on the art of tackling. The defensive line worked on lowering their bodies and wrapping up while working with a big exercise ball. The defensive backs worked on getting their helmets to the outside of a runner as well.

** Romo concluded the afternoon two-minute drill with a touchdown throw to Miles Austin after the Pro Bowl wide out perfectly set up Bryan McCann with a step inside for the slant only to go back outside for the fade. That pass came after Roy Williams could not hold on to a bullet of a throw that hit his hands.

** Jon Kitna completed his first five passes of the afternoon two-minute drill, but it went downhill after that. Mike Jenkin dropped a pick of a throw to Kevin Ogletree, then his throw to John Phillips was off target and two passes later he missed Sam Hurd on a pass down the seam. His last completion was a checkdown to Felix Jones , but he would have been sacked by Orlando Scandrick.

** Cletis Gordon continued to put a lock down on the No. 4 corner spot with a pick of Stephen McGee in the afternoon workout to close out the third-team two-minute drill. He stepped in front of a comeback to Titus Ryan for the turnover.

** Stephen McGee had two good throws to Titus Ryan on the outside during his two-minute drill session, but then Choice could not hold on to a checkdown, giving Leon Williams an easy pick and Gordon ended the drill with that aforementioned interception.

** David Buehler had a strong day. He made all three field goal attempts in the two-minute drill. The first was a chip shot after the firs-team offense scored a touchdown, but his second and third kicks were from 40 and 43 yards. "I view them as game-winners," Buehler said. "You've got to make them."
