I find this super strange and upsetting. Did she amend her filing to Congress? Or did that amendment include any tax filings (ie: IRS)? This one shouldn't be hard to confirm.
It's funny....my wife and I just did our taxes and we were very conservate with our write off's so as not to attract attention and questions from auditors, even though we had receipts. And the expenses were legit for my wife's business and a rental property but we decided to go the safer route which cost us several thousand in additional tax payments. It just simply amazes me that these people do not undergo any scrutiny unless, of course, they're conservatives or conservative non-profits. Then they get raped by the IRS.
