Sidney Rice says "Dallas is still the destination"
Posted by Mike Florio on August 24, 2010 10:50 PM ET

As Vikings fans currently muddle through another valley in their up-and-down 2010 preseason, the man who caused the most recent wave of consternation has broken his silence regarding that abrupt decision to have surgery to repair a nagging hip injury.

Receiver Sidney Rice posted on his Twitter page moments ago, "To all my Vikes fans, hold ya head. . . We have a great cast and Dallas is still the destination!!!"

Rice also said that he'll provide insight tomorrow regarding his surgery and "what the deciding factor was."

We think the deciding factor was that he didn't want to go back to being "just a guy" in his contract year, and that he feared the hip injury would potentially cause a regression, if it were not surgically repaired.

We also think that the surgery was delayed until quarterback Brett Favre had been hog tied in Hattiesburg last week. If Brett had known about Rice's surgery, it would have been a lot harder to get Brett to make his way down that long driveway and go "all in" for another season.

Favre and the Vikings are screwed without Rice and Harvin.

I think Harvin will be around most of the season.

But yeah, Rice being out definitely hurts.

This is the Vikings first 8 games:

@ Saints
Miami
Detroit
Bye
@ Jets
Dallas
@ Packers
@ Patriots

You know . . . That is a brutal opening half of the season. The only gimme is the Lions, and truthfully, I feel like the Lions are a 6-7 game winner this year.

Yeah . . . Minnesota isn't going to come close to replicating last year. Favre pissed away his last chance with that moronic accross the body pass. Typical of his career.

And Rice won't be back in time against us in week five.

We stuff the run we pretty much have this game.

Shiancoe isn't going to beat us alone.

Well... like I said in another thread in relation to all of this, I don't wish injury to an opposing team, but I would not be upset if Rice is not in the lineup when the Cowboys face them. Fact, is, nobody shows the Cowboys any mercy when they have injuries.

Oh yeah. We got that game.

I mean, we've made no changes to the offensive line that got dominated by their front seven 7 months ago.

Clearly this is one we can mail in.

I'm not sure if this is tongue in cheek . . . but you have to remember that Free was playing LT for the first time after playing RT all year, and that normally solid Columbo was playing his first game back from a broken leg. The Vikings took the lead, and released the dogs. Couple that with the crowd noise, and the wheels just fell off.

The results will be significantly different when we play them in 8 weeks.

I wouldn't even bother Midswat. Ray Edwards had a career game against the Cowboys, oftentimes, such margianl players have such games against the Cowboys. 9 times out of 10, a healthy Colombo would mop the floor up with Ray Edwards. Edwards tried to parlay his performance with the Vikings in granting him a new extension, but the Vikings were not going for it. This guy netted only 8 sacks while playing opposite of Allen and having the Willi9ams' Wall next to him. Hardly impressive, in fact not im,pressive at all.

Agreed.

I don't.

The Vikings' defensive line owned our offensive line a mere 7 months ago. Nothing has changed to make me think it will be any different the next time.

Not that we can't win, but I don't expect it. Matchups say otherwise.

I read the same thing over at Cowboys-Forum. "We should dominate the Vikings." Really? How so? Because of the color combination on the unis?

I see it this way, because I feel they should fear our defense as well.

Even if we don't score a lot of points, I don't see the Vikings putting up a lot either.

I see a low scoring game and not a lot of touchdowns.

How is it a fluke, when week after week, the team watched them both and knew what they were capable of and game-planned for them and still couldn't stop it?

You must have missed the whole Columbo coming back and Free not having experience at LT thingy, eh?
