Patrick Crayton walked out of the locker room after the exhibition game against Oakland on Thursday with a pair of Air Jordan shoes. The gift was from Dez Bryant.

Much was said about Bryant not carrying Roy Williams' pads after a practice in San Antonio late last month.

Bryant said he was unaware of the tradition of rookies carrying pads and doing other rituals during camps, and it became a much bigger deal than it ever should have been. But perhaps Bryant has learned.

He bought all of the wide receivers the new Jordans as a present on Thursday.

"Not done," Crayton said. "He's trying. It's a good start."

Bryant remains in a boot to protect his high right ankle sprain and he should be re-evaluated soon. The Cowboys are hoping he can return for the Sept. 12 opener vs. Washington but have not ruled out a return for the final week of the preseason.
