Several significant members of the Green Bay Packers’ Super Bowl title team – No. 3 wide receiver James Jones, third-down running back Brandon Jackson and S Atari Bigby – weren’t given tenders and aren’t likely to return to the team.

Jones and Jackson have four years of experience, and there’s a slight chance a new collective bargaining agreement could have designated them restricted free agents. But because the Packers didn’t tender them, they will be unrestricted when the new CBA goes into effect. Bigby has five years of service and almost certainly would have been an unrestricted free agent in any CBA scenario.

The departure of Jones would be the biggest loss to the Packers. Although he had some key drops during the regular season and playoffs, he has good size (6-1, 208) and big-play ability. He’ll be able to command starting money on the open market. The rise of WR Jordy Nelson as a big-play threat will reduce the impact of Jones’ departure.

With the emergence of rookie running back James Starks in the playoffs and the return of Ryan Grant from an ankle injury, the Packers don’t have a great need for Jackson. They’ll likely pick up another back in the draft.

Center/guard Jason Spitz and fullback Korey Hall also didn’t receive tenders.

Meanwhile, the team offered K Mason Crosby and G Daryn Colledge second-round tenders, and FB John Kuhn the lowest tender.

If we didn't have all world Roy, I'd be all about getting Jones in here.

Yeah, i wouldn't mind trading an expensive big play ball dropper for a cheaper version.
