Oddsmakers at sportsbook.com list Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant as being tied for having the best odds to win NFL offensive rookie of the year.

The odds on Bryant are +450 -- along with Chargers running back Ryan Mathews. That means if you bet $100 on Dez, and he wins the award, you would win $450.

But does Bryant have a chance?

Bryant has to recover from a high-ankle sprain, but Todd Archer predicts he will return in time for the season opener at Washington.

In April, our own Gerry Fraley predicted Dez would be rookie of the year. Fraley wrote then: "If he keeps his head on and shows increased maturity. He's stepping into an ideal situation: going to a contender with a proven quarterback."

It might take a lot to win. According to kansascity.com research, history doesn't favor rookie receivers. Only six since 1995 have produced 1,000-yard campaigns.

Anquan Boldin won the rookie of the year award in 2003 after catching 101 passes for 1,377 yards.

Percy Harvin won last season with 60 catches for 790 yards and six touchdowns.

Here are the odds to win offensive rookie of the year, according to sportsbook.com:

+450 Dez Bryant, WR, Dallas Cowboys

+450 Ryan Mathews, RB, San Diego Chargers

+600 Ben Tate, RB, Houston Texans

+650 Jahvid Best, RB, Detroit Lions

+750 Field (Any Other Player)

+800 CJ Spiller, RB, Buffalo Bills

+800 Sam Bradford, QB, Detroit Lions

+1000 Dexter McCluster, RB, Kansas City Chiefs

+1000 Jimmy Clausen, QB, Carolina Panthers

+1200 Golden Tate, WR, Seattle Seahawks

+1500 Arrelious Benn , WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

+1500 Emmanuel Sanders, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers

+1500 Jermaine Gresham , TE, Cincinnati Bengals

+1500 Montario Hardesty, RB, Cleveland Browns

+1500 Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots

+1500 Toby Gerhart, RB, Minnesota Vikings

+2000 Jordan Shipley, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

+2000 Tim Tebow, QB, Denver Broncos

+2200 Brandon Lafell, WR, Carolina Panthers

I think he can win it, but Mathews and Tate will have something to say about that.

It heavily favors running backs. Mathews, Spiller, Best, Tate....maybe an outside shot with McCluster. One of those guys is going to win it.
