Ravens tackle Jared Gaither is not helping his case in the push for a new contract.

Gaither will miss the next two-to-three weeks with a tear in his back, likely knocking him out for the rest of the preseason. It's possible that Oniel Cousins could replace Gaither as the team's starter at right tackle into the regular season.

"I don't know the medical term for it," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "It's not a serious thing, but it's going to keep him out for a couple weeks until it settles down because it's what's causing the spasms apparently."

Harbaugh said earlier in camp that Gaither had to "fight through" the injury. Gaither showed up to training camp suddenly weighing 29 pounds less than he did last year, which also didn't please the organization.
