Eagles OT Winston Justice to have knee surgery, Career in Jeopardy

Winston Justice - T - Eagles Eagles RT Winston Justice is scheduled for knee surgery and his 2011 season, as well as his career, are in jeopardy.
Justice has a bone chip in his left knee and he may need microfracture surgery, according to Dr. James Andrews. In a best-case scenario, Justice will just need a scope. Regardless, this will partially explain Justice's woeful performances in crucial games against the Vikings in Week 16 and Packers in the playoffs. Massive yet raw youngster King Dunlap would be next in line to protect Michael Vick's blind side. It's a major concern for the Eagles.

Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com reports a high-ranking Eagles team source scoffed at a published report that said Winston Justice’s injury could be very serious or possibly career-threatening, saying there’s “absolutely no reason” to believe that’s the case.

Justice is in Birmingham, Ala., where noted knee specialist James Andrews is scheduled to perform what the team source called “a clean-out” on his knee, which bothered him throughout the second half of this past season.

The source said that although it is conceivable that Justice’s injury will turn out to be more serious than the team believes, the team’s medical staff does not anticipate that being the case. He said he expects Justice to recover quickly and be 100 percent healthy for offseason workouts – if there is a CBA agreement that allows such practice sessions.
