Dolphins sign Randy Thomas

Dolphins sign Randy Thomas
Posted by Michael David Smith on August 18, 2010 3:26 PM ET
The Miami Dolphins have picked up a veteran offensive lineman.

Guard Randy Thomas has signed with the team and was at practice today, giving the Dolphins some added depth with Nate Garner and John Jerry both battling injuries.

In 1999, Dolphins boss Bill Parcells, who was then the coach of the Jets, picked Thomas in the second round of the NFL draft. Thomas has started 143 games in 11 seasons since then, including two games last year with the Redskins. Thomas's 2009 season was cut short when he suffered a torn triceps in September.

The Dolphins waived receiver Ryan Grice-Mullen to make space on the roster for Thomas.

Maybe we should of taken a shot at Thomas, it wouldn't of hurt.

Too late now the Big Tuna beat us to him.

The guy literally has nothing left.

This is another case of Parcells signing one of his guys, regardless of age or ability.

I was thinking more of a stop gap position for him seeing we have a couple of injuries.

Maybe a one or two year thing, but it doesn't matter he's signed by the Dolphins now anyways.
