The Cowboys were thwarted in their attempt to add a second tight end to the roster on Tuesday with Tampa Bay claiming Martin Rucker.

Based on their 3-13 record last year, the Buccaneers were awarded Rucker ahead of the Cowboys, who had an 11-5 record. Had the Cowboys got Rucker, he would have taken the spot vacated by Titus Ryan, who was waived/injured Tuesday. Rucker was cut Monday by Philadelphia. He was on the Eagles' practice squad last year.

Earlier in the day the Cowboys signed DajLeon Farr to help compensate for the losses of John Phillips (knee), Kevin Brock (ankle), who was cut today, and Scott Sicko (concussion). He should know part of the offense because San Diego runs a similar scheme to the Cowboys.
