Ellis Hobbs , of DeSoto, has pulled away from the competition for a starting-cornerback job with Philadelphia's defense.

Eagles coach Andy Reid told reporters the starting spot essentialy is Hobbs' to lose. Hobbs, coming back from a serious neck injury, has made his mark in camp with spirited play. That included a battle with rookie wide receiver Riley Cooper, a former outfielder in the Rangers' organization.

"I love his attitude,'' Reid said of Hobbs. ``He's a fiesty little dude. He likes to play the game. And he's not going to take anything from anybody and I appreciate that.''

The Dallas Cowboys will have their two games against the Eagles during the final four weeks of the season.
