Age is just a number?

Green Mile actor Doug Hutchison and his new wife, Courtney Alexis Stodden, certainly think so. The 51-year-old actor said "I do" to the 16-year-old aspiring country star on May 20 in Las Vegas.

We're aware that our vast age difference is extremely controversial," the couple told E! Online. "But we're very much in love and want to get the message out there that true love can be ageless."

According to Hutchison's website, "Mr. and Mrs. Hutchison live together happily ensconced in their Hollywood Hills home with their lil' pups Everette and Tuna!"

According to the Clark County, Nevada Marriage Bureau (as excerpted by PopEater) both marriage license applicants must be at least 18 years of age. This means one of Stodden's parents gave legal permission for their daughter to marry Hutchison, who is 35 years older than her.

This is disturbing on many levels. I have three adult daughters, and I felt like I was losing them when they were married off in their twenties. How disfunctional is this young ladies family/home to not only allow her to marry at age 16, but to do so to a man 35 years her senior?
