Broaddus Breakdown (viewed Florida State, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State games): Has a strong safety build and will most likely have to play that position in the NFL because he doesn't have the quickest feet and is not quick in transition. Smooth pedal but it takes him time to get out of it. It takes him time to plant and then drive. There is wasted movement in his reactions. I didn’t see a true burst or recovery speed. … Needs the play to happen in front of him and not over his head. Tended to get turned around in coverage. Took a poor angle on a screen against Texas A&M and receiver Jeff Fuller just walled him off from the play. Plays like a cautious player in coverage because he probably realizes his limitations. … Had some coverage issues in the Senior Bowl as well. Best time I viewed him in coverage when he was on an island in the red zone against Justin Blackmon of Oklahoma State. Used his strength and body to keep Blackmon from catching the ball in bounds. Showed some awareness in the same game when he was able to get a tipped ball interception when playing coverage in the middle of the field. … Was not impressed when he was used on the safety blitz against the Aggies. Timed the play well but unable to beat the block of the back. Too big of a rusher to get handled by a running back in that situation. Needs to find a way to play with his hands, shed the blocker and get in on the play. … Not afraid to throw his body around as a tackler. Did wrap up in the open field against Florida State but missed badly against A&M when he ducked his head and was out of position. There are times where he just throws his body into the ball carrier and does not wrap up. … Again, more of a strong safety than a free. Doesn't have the movement skills or the range to play as a free.
