Jim Harbaugh is wasting little time in filling out his 49ers staff, and much of it will resemble the one he had at Stanford.

Harbaugh hired Stanford assistant coach Greg Roman to serve as his offensive coordinator, according to the San Jose Mercury News on Friday, citing sources.

Stanford defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and offensive line coach Tim Drevno will also join Harbaugh and the 49ers, according to Comcast SportsNet. Fangio is expected to serve as defensive coordinator while Drevno will coach tight ends.

Also Friday, the San Francisco Chronicle reported the team will sign Ed Donatell to coach the team's secondary.

The 49ers have yet to confirm the moves.

Roman, who spent 13 seasons as an NFL assistant, joined Harbaugh's Stanford staff in 2009. He has never served as a coordinator before, but was listed as associate head coach, assistant head coach on offense and tight ends/offensive tackles coach in 2010.

Roman helped tutor quarterback Andrew Luck, who led the Pac 10 this season in touchdown passes, passing yards, total offense and quarterback rating.

In 2009, Roman served as Stanford's running-game coordinator and helped guide current Minnesota Vikings running back Toby Gerhart to 1,871 yards and 28 rushing touchdowns.

Roman's NFL coaching career began as a defensive quality control coach for Carolina in 1995. He spent seven season with the Panthers before joining the Houston Texans as a tight ends and quarterbacks coach for three seasons starting in 2002.

Fangio has previously worked for five NFL teams. He has served as defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers (1995-98), Indianapolis Colts (1999-01) and Houston Texans (2002-05).

Drevno has been with Stanford since 2007, first as tight ends coach before serving as the team's offensive line coach last season.

Donatell has 20 seasons of coaching experience in the NFL, most recently serving as the Denver Broncos defensive backs coach. He coached the secondaries of the Atlanta Falcons from 2004-06 and Green Bay Packers from 2000-03.

Jim Harbaugh signed a five-year deal averaging $5 million annually last Friday to become the 49ers coach after four years with the Cardinal.
