I don't see why they do these rankings every week... clearly they don't mean anything.

Alabama is going to kill Ohio State. The other game should be a very good game.

Yeah and that's crazy too. It's not their fault the NCAA doesn't allow for a championship game for a 10 team conference. And it's not their fault the Big 12 doesn't have 12 teams or didn't ask the NCAA for an exemption to that rule.

As they should of.

Still think we will be at 8 teams within 2 years. No more, no less. Call it "The Elite Eight".

It was obvious conferences were scrambling to build their ranks. The Big 12 didn't (or couldn't) and this is the result. If I was the Big 12, I would make a huge play to get Miami, who's stuck behind Florida State in the ACC. I know there's talk of UCF and USF but they are the 4th and 5th best programs in Florida. They could also play the "big market" angle and just sign SMU and Houston. I know those aren't strong teams but it gets your numbers up to add the conference championship game and again, Dallas and Houston are huge TV markets.

They need to do away with the "power conferences." All D1 FBS teams need to be aligned geographically, forget these ridiculous alignments.

There are 128 FBS teams (pending UAB going defunct). Divide them up into 8 geographically aligned 16-team conferences. Each conference is divided into divisions, who all play each other. You can then have some cross-over games or inter-conference games. Each division puts its best team into the conference championship game, and each conference champion goes into an 8 team playoff.

Here's my rough groupings:

Northeast

1. Connecticut
2. Boston College
3. Syracuse
4. Pittsburgh
5. West Virginia
6. Penn State
7. Rutgers
8. Army
9. Navy

11. Air Force
12. Nevada
13. UNLV

There will be conferences that are stronger than others, but I think it will create parity if the "lesser conferences" have a chance to get in the playoff by winning. Eventually good recruits will be divided up amongst the conferences pretty equally.

The Fiesta Bowl is one of my customers and they usually give me free tickets. I think I will pass this year.

Definitely excited even though I don't like any of the teams. I guess Oregon is the least of all evils, but still, not a fan at all.

Disappointed Ohio State doesn't have Barrett playing, because I think they'd have a great chance with him. But with a third string QB, I doubt it.

So much of this is a sham, though.

Put Florida State in the SEC West and they are just another 2 or 3 loss team. Put Arkansas in the Big 10 and they make the college playoffs.

Yep. They have to at least go to eight ASAP. Otherwise anytime it's close the committee is simply going to go with the biggest name, like they did this year.
