A total of 1,681 miles separates Dallas from Seattle as the Boeing 737 flies.

The distance between the Cowboys and Seahawks may be even farther.

Seattle lost three games this season by a total of 15 points on its way to the Super Bowl title. The Cowboys lost four of their final seven games by a total of 52 points in missing the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season.

Seattle is building momentum and could be on the verge of sustained success. The Cowboys are treading water, doing their best not to go under.

"I think with winning organizations there are processes that are in place and there is a way to do things, a philosophy, a belief that you have and everything is built around that,'' Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman said. "If you take Seattle for instance, if you say 'hey, what is their philosophy,' you kind of know what that is. They're going to play great defense, they're going to run the football and they draft players who fit the mold of what they're looking for. I don't know that the Cowboys…

"The Cowboys tend to change their beliefs each year on what it is they need or what they're about. I find that to be somewhat unusual for a club that has been owned by the same owner for however long it's been.''

Point of clarification: however long has been 25 years, at least it will be later this month on the anniversary of Jerry Jones' purchase of the franchise.

Troy is being kind. This is code for I have no fucking idea what Jerry is doing and there is no way in hell I ever go there as a GM.

He's spot on in the whole "We change our philosophy" every year.

Most teams build a foundation and build for long term. We seem to just be a very reactive team. No real direction.

One more disaster of a year and then I think Troy comes on board as GM.

I can see Jerry's merchandise and other sales related revenue cut in half this year. There won't be nearly as many people tripping over themselves to pay $200 a ticket minimum, $40 parking, etc. to go see the Cowboys next season. For what? They suck ass.

I hope next season gets as bad as it possible can.

As long as we're throwing out former players as possible GM candidates, I nominate Mark Tuinei.

His ghost can do a better job than Jerry.
