Report: Terrell Suggs tears Achilles tendon
Posted by Mike Florio on May 3, 2012, 9:46 AM EDT

From former Redskins G.M. Vinny Cerrato, now of 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore, comes the latest stunner in one of the most stunning offseasons in NFL history.

Per Cerrato, Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs has torn an Achilles tendon.

A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the Ravens have not yet received a conclusive diagnosis. Still, for now, it doesn’t look good.

And it won’t look good for the Ravens if they have to proceed without the 2011 defensive player of the year.

It’s also a stark reminder that, no matter how good a team looks on paper, it can all fall apart, quickly.

Making matters worse for the Ravens is the timing. If this had happened a week ago, they could have adjusted their draft plans accordingly.

UPDATE 10:13 a.m. ET: “We are in contact with Terrell,” the Ravens said in a statement. “He will see a specialist early next week, and we’ll know more at that time.”

Cerratto has a radio gig?

Doesn't he have a pretty squeeky and obnoxious voice/laugh?

Mike and Mike had a quick liner on this one from Schefter that said he tore it playing basketball not working out. Probably damage control to say he was "working out."

Technically, basketball is working out, right?

Anyway, the whole thing would be that if he did it in non football related activities (which BB might qualify as) then the Ravens wouldn't have to pay his salary.

But I don't think the Ravens would pull that move on such a long-tenured team leader.

I'm not sure if they could not pay his salary, but yeah I don't think they would stoop to that level. I was just thinking of the PR hit Suggs would take by hurting himself for the year with something non-football related. Could you imagine if Romo tore his achilles playing a pick up game, or got a concussion by getting hit in the head with a golf ball? The cowboyjoe's of the world would have a stroke.

yeah but suggs keeps it real and is blue collar. he plays in baltimore where the whole team keeps it real and is blue collar.

those guys are all lunch pail throwbacks.

at least that is what my tv always tells me.

this is the second story this week that could be a huge topic but really wont be most likely. the other is orakpos brother getting caught with steroids which no one seems to care about.

If things were reversed then it would happen. But make that a 1st, a 3rd, and a 6th.

Jerry don't be playin.
