With more than 100 tight ends in NFL training camps, the Dallas Cowboys have a thin field to sift through as they look for help at the injury-riddled position. The candidates include:

+ Tom Santi. He played in nine games with Indianapolis during the last two seasons but was waived-injured at the start of camp. He played for Cowboys' tight end coach John Garrett at Virginia . The Garrett-Virginia relationship figured in the additions of tight end John Phillips and wide receiver Kevin Ogletree.

+ Martin Rucker. Philadelphia waived the veteran on Monday morning. Rucker, a fourth-round pick by Cleveland in 2008, had been limited by a strained hamstring.

The Cowboys had Nick Tow-Arnett, a combination fullback-tight end, in off-season workouts but released him before the start of training camp. Seattle signed Tow-Arnett, an undrafted free agent from Minnesota, on Sunday.
