LeShannon & Skippy talking about it.

What kind of leader would knucklehead Zeke be? RKG? Im all for it if it works out so that Garrett is gone after this season.

By all accounts, he works his ass off and prepares like crazy in the film room.

Pulling a gals shirt down in public was dumb and so was getting caught in the dope store, but on the field and in the lockerroom he does do the right things.

Not sure I believe that. He came in way out of shape last year.

I think we all know what the extenuating circumstances were there, to say he was "distracted" would be a massive understatement. He was never out of shape at OSU and he was in great shape as a rookie, and he did come back from his suspension last year in good shape.

The pics I saw from OTA's last week he looked to be in good shape as well.

Lets hope he can be a leader and has his act together. He can be a really dynamic player and do a lot to carry this team so it would be a huge step in the right direction if he can be.

The whole idea that every player has to be a leader feels forced and unrealistic.. Maybe it's just me, but every team seems to be made up of all chiefs and no Indians.
The simple fact is that even the lowest paid players make more money than most fans will ever snif in our lives. Can you even imagine being a 3rd string kicker (or any position) and getting paid almost half a million bucks a year? When most of the players on every team is a millionaire its tough to convince them that someone else is in charge of anything.
There was a time not long ago when most football fans could go to the local tavern and have a beer with the starting linemen. Now even players on the bubble have their own entourage with their own security staffs to escort them.
There really should be just a few team leaders, guys who have put in the time and have won more games than they've lost, but we're in the age of lousy sports writers who have to stir the pot with every chance and make every undrafted rookie out to be the next super star before they've played the first snap.. God forbid there is a guy who plays football just because they enjoy the game... Let's be realistic with Zeke.. He's a running back and probably won't be around much more than a few seasons. That's just the nature of the position. They take a real beating and the life expectancy of running backs isn't very long as opposed to say, punters who often stick around into their 40s.. Racking up stats may be impressive, but a real team leader should be someone every player on the team can turn to when things go wrong, someone you can cry your eyes out to when your girlfriend dumps you in mid season.. not that anyone really expects the punter to play the role of team priest or anything.. LOL

Leaders do not talk about leading until after they're already leading. Skill position players are out there for the entire team to see. Show up in shape, be all about his business and continue that finishing the play routine he has and drop the feed me nonsense and he will be a leader.

Zeke needs to know how RB's become leaders. They convert on 3rd down and keep their guys on the field and keep the other guys off it.

He is in an unusual position with a team that wants to feature the RB and not have him as a supporting cast member, he will most definitely have opportunities to lead.

The OP did.
The OP asked what kind of leader we thought Zeke would be, not about the selfish feed me sign. Some are OK with it, some like it and some like me feel it's childish and selfish and makes him look like what I think he is, a child in a man's body. Want people to look at you, Zeke, just run the damned ball. The 1st down thing is fine as it's not an individualistic move about "me".

If he likes that so much he should immediately run back and act as if he's feeding one of his OL that gave him that hole.

He completely is a child in a man's body. The Feed Me thing doesn't bother me though, although I can see it rubbing others the wrong way. Most playmakers have something signature they like to do, like Dez's X and diamond thing he would do, but it was generally limited to touchdowns, so it wasn't that often.

Mike Irvin did his 1st down celebration with the exaggerated hand sign...

I think someone should bring back the Ickey Shuffle and the Electric Slide...
After every 1st down!

LMAO, now we're talking. I go back even further to the two originators of the TD celebration, Elmo Wright and Billy "White Shoes" Johnson. For pure athleticism, they were untouchable and both could do the splits and come back up in one move. It was like Jackie Wilson and James Brown playing football.

The worst TD dance before Kelce took that honor was Sanders with that 'light in the loafers, let me do your hair after the game" stupid dance of his. The high stepping into the end zone was good though.

I would High Step to every 1st down, if I could... that would be hilarious!
High Step straight into a tackle... ha! Then the Ickey shuffle. Every time. It would drive the other team crazy!
Probably get you killed too...
Ha!

The feed me stuff is idiotic. Nothing endearing about it. It lacks any real creativity or uniqueness that would make it something to appreciate. But thats just my opinion.

Like I said: Not for everybody. I respect this. It's all good. I think it riles up the D as much as anyone and they go harder and when it doesn't matter... the more he eats... Then it gets demoralizing.
