Speaking of coaching I just realized something that makes me sick

Garrett received Coach of the year and Jerry made it into the Hall of Fame in the same year

That is a sad state of affairs

I don't have a huge problem with Garrett getting CoY. The team sucked the prior year and won 13 games the next. Most coaches in that same boat will win that. it doesn't mean much IMO.

Jones in the HoF seems like a sham until you consider he wasn't voted in for accomplishments as an owner or GM. As much as he has sucked in those roles, no one can really argue about what he did for the league as a whole in terms of marketing and making money.

if only he had stuck to those tasks with regards to running our team all these years.

Then barely use him in said playoff game. I could understand sitting Zeke, if the Cowboys were playing in the playoffs that following week, but they had a bye. Made no sense.

He got 22 carries, so that's not "barely" using him. An argument can easily be made that he should have gotten more, but getting behind 21-3 as fast as they did had an impact on that too.

As for sitting Zeke against Philly in an utterly meaningless week 17 game. Please, you (and some others here) cant possibly be this fucking retarded. He was the most important player on the team playing a position where he was gonna get hit a lot. Why would anyone in their right mind risk losing him (or having him have to play injured) with the playoff coming up? it wasn't like he needed 30 yards to break the record either.

I honestly cant believe how fucking stupid some people are over stuff like this.

even after that screw up we still had a chance to win the game
Where at any point in that game did we show we could stop GB's offense? Noooooo, we did not have a chance to win the game. That chance was BLOWN. Get your mind right. The fucking chance to win the game was right there, when we had the ability and opportunity to never let Rodgers see the ball again that day.

What we did instead, was give GB a chance to win the game.

We had that stop if not for an amazing throw and catch. Then they Packers kicked a 51 yd FG that initially looked like a miss but somehow ended up being good. Those final seconds were much closer than you think.

GB was winning the game by 3 on our last possession. The only way we could have won the game without Rodgers ever seeing the field again was to score a TD on the last play of the game.

They should have used their last TO right after the completion to Witten. Instead they ran up to the line and then spiked it, losing a little bit of time but even worse, losing the down. I guess Garrett claimed they wanted to save the TO for the FG, but they were already on the cusp of FG range for Bailey anyway (would have been 57 yds from where they were)

They obviously weren't "playing for the FG" at the end, otherwise they wouldn't have thrown that last pass (the one that got batted down) but by spiking he ball they wasted a down too early.

The spiked ball and the deflected pass helped GB another way though. They had two timeouts left on our last drive and assuredly would have had to use them to give Rodgers that last chance in regulation. They used their 2nd TO after Heath's sack with 18 seconds left. If they hadn't have had that, they would have been scrambling to get lined up and run another play (wasting several more seconds) instead of immediately stopping the clock and then get lined up the way they wanted.

I know how close it was. Close enough that the idiotic spike, pretty much decided it.

Which there is no chance of doing, if you're having the QB spike the ball.

Exactly, all we did was preserve their timeouts. Annnnnnd give them the ball back with plenty of time, for Rodgers.

People forget we even had a TD drive that took less than a minute that year. It's not even that uncommon anymore. You can't give a Rodgers that much time especially with timeouts. Garrett didn't know that.

Or if the Cowboys managed to chew clock, kick a FG (which would tie the game), and get the coin toss in OT. A variation of that is the defense stops Rodgers and we win the game in OT. Regardless, even after the spike we still had a chance at winning the game.

No, we had a chance to preserve the tie. The chance to win the game was before the spike, when we could have run a draw play for a TD.
