I feel like the rod marinelli retiring story is going to pick up steam

Think its very possible that hes done

That's probably good news. What new DC would ole Jerry boy inflict on the fans. That's the problem.

Prob keep eberfleus if thats still possible. Havent heard anything since the early patriots rumors.

Now who knows really. Pats dc prob going to be lions new hc. The next man up for them is brian flores and he might become a dc somewhere else. Thinking maybe thats why they looked at eberflues in the first place

WTF???

How does Dallas pick lower than 2 teams with the same record that beat them?
First tiebreaker is strength of schedule. If they're still tied it goes to record against common opponents. If they're still tied after that it's a coin flip. Head to head results don't come into it.

Yeah I mentioned him in the DT thread. Short area quickness, gets penetration, most important stuffs the run. If they stick with Marinelli they wont pick him, too big.

Def gonna need to turnover a few roster spots and hitchens is prob leaving in free agency too

But if 1 player gets hurt and the whole defense cant function, then the problem is likely more on the defense than a single position deficiency. But hey, dallas is going to get a lot more “coaching up” next season, as per emporer jerry so we should all feel comfortable

Isnt it fucking sad when the fan base is worried about Hitchens leaving? But that is what happens when you blow your second rounders for the majority of a decade.

Yeah, colleges arent producing certain position in abundance anymore because of spread offenses. DBs valued, LBs devalued. At the same time look at what we trotted out there every week: a grandpa, a gimp, and a moron, with Hitchens filling in where ever necessary.

ferrell, da'ron payne, landry, wilkins, rashaan evans were all still on the board. also note that they had barkley going 1st overall to the browns.

by Matt Galatzan from scout.com:

19. Dallas Cowboys

Vita Vea, DT, Washington

At this spot, the Cowboys could go in a bunch of different directions. They need speed at receiver, some think they need help at tight end, and some help at linebacker or in the secondary could be in play as well. (Like Fish says, "B.A.A.'') However, Dallas also needs a difference-maker on the interior of the defensive line, and there is arguably no bigger difference maker in the entire draft at that position, than Vita Vea of Washington. At 6-5 350, Vea throws offensive linemen around like rag dolls.

However, he also has quickness and speed that you just don't find in people that size. Vea -- a high-school QB for a brief time! -- can run down punt returners in the open field, and then on the next play, absorb two offensive linemen to free up his linebackers for a tackle. Then on the following play, he'll blow by the line with a swim move and beat his man for a sack. His skills are, quite simply, jaw-dropping. Most players his size would be relegated to playing as a zero-technique in a 3-4, or a one-technique in a 4-3, but Vea could also play as a three or five-tech if you needed him to. He is versatile, powerful, and fluid. Obviously there is every chance that he will be the first tackle taken ahead of Maurice Hurst, as he would be a good fit in any scheme you put him in, but in this scenario, the Cowboys get the monster they so desperately need.

The biggest obstacle in connecting the Cowboys and Vea? Assuming they see him as a 1-Tech, they'd have to greatly change the way they value that position. I say they should.

i just think if teams view vita vea as a disruptive presence the same way a lot of these talking heads do, he should presumably be gone before 19.

Vita Vea would be great and would really help Jaylon if they plan to keep him in the middle. The problem is Marinelli. He doesn’t value a dominant 1-tech in his defense.

A guy I would to see them draft is LB Tremaine Edmunds of Va Yech. He’s a 6’5” 250 lb linebacker. After the Georgia guy he’s the best LB in the draft. From his videos he could play the Mike or the Sam. He’s also a good blitz guy. He should be there at 19 and with the team losing Hitchens he could slide right in to a starting role. Here’s a video of him.
