INDIANAPOLIS -- The Eagles are attempting to trade for New Orleans Saints receiver Brandin Cooks, according to an ESPN report.

In addition to the Eagles, the Tennessee Titans are also interested, and are the "more likely" suitor for Cooks, according to ESPN.

Cooks, 5-foot-10, 189 pounds, finished last season with 78 catches for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns. He averaged 15.0 yards-per-catch.

If a trade is completed, the Eagles would be unable to announce it or officially agree until March 9, the start of the new league year.

Cooks is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and would cost just $2.6 million against the Eagles' cap this season. He is eligible to sign an extension.

The Eagles have made it a priority this offseason to upgrade their wide receiver position, a unit that was among the worst in the league last season.

One area the Eagles' receivers especially struggled with last season was beating teams down the field, and that is something Cooks has shown he is capable of doing. Cooks ran a 4.33 40-yard dash coming out of college, and has 37 career receptions of 20-plus yards.

Cooks has a tie to Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, as they share an agent.

Cooks would certainly qualify as an upgrade, as he has been one of the more productive receivers in the league since being drafted by the Saints in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

The Eagles were very interested in Cooks prior to the draft that season, but he was drafted four spots before the Eagles went on the clock.

What it would cost to trade for Cooks is unknown, but it would likely cost at least a second-round pick, if not more.

If the Saints insist on a first-round pick, the Eagles very well might lose in a bidding war to the Titans, as they have two first-round picks, including No. 5 overall.
