Trivia: as equipment manager, one of Jack Eskridge's duties was to assign rookies their numbers. In 1970, Eskridge assigned #43 to rookie Cliff Harris. Harris asked for a different number because he said #43 was Don Perkins' number. What was Eskridge's reply?

It's interesting that Randy White apparently was not concerned about being assigned #54. Maybe he didn't know that had been Chuck Howley's old number, or else he didn't care. And as a first round draft pick, I doubt if Eskridge teased him that he wasn't gonna make the team!
