The Dallas Cowboys continued to work the bottom of their roster Sunday, a day after they set their 53-man roster following final cuts Saturday.

The Cowboys have signed linebacker Korey Toomer to their 53-man roster after he cleared waivers, according to a source.

Toomer was among the Seattle Seahawks’ final cuts Saturday.

The Cowboys will have to release a player from their 53-man roster to make room for Toomer, 25, before it becomes official.

Toomer (6-2, 234) was a fifth-round draft pick in 2012 out of Idaho. Toomer has yet to appear in an NFL regular-season game.

Toomer was among the Seahawks’ final cuts because of a shoulder injury in 2012 and then was signed to the club’s practice squad. On Aug. 27, 2013, he was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list.

The team released offensive tackle John Wetzel Sunday afternoon to make room for Donald Hawkins.

The Cowboys claimed Hawkins off waivers from Cleveland. The rookie from the University of Texas played in two pre-season games for Philadelphia before his release. The Browns claimed him off waivers and he played one game for them. The club hoped to place him on the practice squad after they released him to get down to 53.

Wetzel was added to the Cowboys practice squad in November of last season. He was out of football at the time after spending the offseason and training camp with Oakland.

At one time, Crawford was believed to be a 1st round talent.

Good looking kid too.

Dallas is also expected to sign ex-San Francisco safety C.J. Spillman, an experienced veteran and an accomplished special teams player. A six-year veteran, Spillman led the 49ers coverage units with 19 tackles last season.

Spillman makes a lot of sense with his ST ability and seems like he could be used in dime packages. I wonder if he can return kicks...he is fairly fast.
