What does this say abut Garrett? Tomlin is a middle of the road coach and has em competitive/ SB contenders every year.

I dont know why some think Tomlin is anything special as a coach. He's not. Garrett stands alone as a fraud and a below average coach w/o being compared to other coaches. Tomlin is probably better than Garrett but thats a low bar.

Super Bowl odds: 20-1

What they are considered: A team that would have contended for the Super Bowl last year had it not faced the crippling adversity of...um, losing its running back to a midyear suspension that it should have spent months preparing for in the first place.

What they really are: The '67 Mustang that your uncle only thinks he knows how to restore.

The Cowboys spent this offseason in "we meant to do that" mode. Cutting Dez Bryant to clear cap space? Meant to do that! Begging Jason Witten not to retire, even though he's been fading for four years? Meant to do that! Spending almost a quarter of the defensive budget on Tank Lawrence's franchise tag while still drowning in dead Tony Romo money? It's all part of a master plan, Cowboys fans!

The Cowboys' receiving and tight end corps looks like something from the future roster of Salt Lake City's AAF team. The lack of experience and quality at receiver will hinder Dak Prescott's effort to bounce back to 2017 form, which will make Jason Garrett's offense more run-oriented and predictable, which will further hinder Prescott's efforts, and so on.

The young, budget-friendly secondary will get picked apart when it matters. It's great to have Randy Gregory back, but let's wait for that second career sack before we pencil in a Von Miller-type season. And no, Earl Thomas isn't coming, because the Cowboys cannot afford to pay him, because the Cowboys still manage their salary cap like a college sophomore who just got their first credit card.

Those Super Bowl odds are appropriate, but the Cowboys are getting 7-2 odds to win the NFC East. Picking them to win the division means picking the Eagles to collapse, Washington to suffer another injury apocalypse, the Giants to not catch any lightning in their Odell Beckham Jr.-Saquon Barkley bottle and for Witten understudy Rico Gathers to suddenly become more than a minicamp Antonio Gates impersonator.

That's not a wager you want to make.

Id say the biggest excuse is already in place with our recieving Corp. We have no one proven at TE who’s had more than 9 career receptions.

And a 3rd round pick hopefully to take over for our #1 reciever role while acquiring a former 1st round bust and basically another 3rd or 4th reciever. Our 2 best returning recievers who couldn’t get seperation last year downfield with Dez and Witten in there will be the focus which doesn’t bode well for a QB who needs recievers fo get open.

It definitely sets up for the fall blaming losing Dez and Witten which unless someone steps up will be our priorities going into 2019 draft. And that’s assuming our OL is fixed and no more issues with our RB or QB. And this is all about our strength on offense.

The defense is even more unpredictable how it will develop this year. But overall enough question marks why we aren’t being picked by most to make the playoffs appearing to be back in rebuilding or at least retooling mode until further evidence. Plenty of excuses in place.

His DV case was cleared by the NFL today. Goodell isn’t going to suspend him at all (which is a shocker)

So I’m not sure why he isn’t showing up to camp. Anyone know why he isn’t showing up?

There was some speculation he was dealing with some issues with his kid.

The problem is that Jerry and the Red Dolt empower these idiots. There are no repercussions. Fail multiple drug tests, no problem. You'll get reinstated and play, all the while costing another player who may have worked his ass off a roster spot. And Garrett has no balls...none. If a player didn't report for camp after numerous troubles, then he's gone. Guys like Irving get second and third chances. The least you can do is show up to work. Fucking idiots.

I just read the same thing. The team has excused him from the start of camp so he can deal with his custody issues for his daughter.
