No. You don't take him. Dak is the known quality. Dak is their guy. Period. Moreso now with Dalton. If Lawrence is in reach, you trade down and get more picks.

People called Ryan Leaf a generational player.

You trust this lame brain trust to build a team around anybody?

If this were a SB team then yes you give Dak $40M per season. But this team is light years away from the SB. They are better off with the best QB in the draft. You want them to continue doing the shot they have always done, paying guys they don’t need.

Because you can't just "hit reset" with a rookie unless you're going to totally scrap the whole thing and start over from scratch. Jerry isn't capable of doing that successfully, and God knows he won't let anyone else do it for him. If they theoretically took Lawrence it would set this team back even farther (I know it doesn't seem possible, but that's how it is).

That’s what he should have said. That I agree with and understand. Paying Dak $40M per with this team is insane when you have a shot at the best QB in the draft. I guess the Cowboys should have also made Danny White the highest paid QB in NFL history instead of drafting Troy Aikman too huh?

You'd think some of these OL issues would be wrinkled out during the week. I mean, guys are just coming in untouched. I'm starting to change my tune about coaching. This is not what I expected and I thought I'd see some aggressive play on both sides of the ball. If you bring in an offensive minded coach, the offense should be somewhat crisp (understanding the injuries). I know we're banged up but coaching should be able to at least overcome some of it.

I really think we'll have a shot at the top pick the way we're playing.
